My 31st birthday & Bluey

Thank you everyone for all your support these past years. Thanks to you I really enjoy drawing and making art. Today I’m 31 and having a birthday and receiving great presents from my friends and family, I realised it isn’t easy to find special presents for dear ones, so I thought of creating this online store: www.ddasuhan.com where you can purchase my one of a kind special @ddasuhan_ artworks, to give to those who are important and special to you.

 

I got this idea as I was walking through a beautiful shopping center on the illustrious Gold Coast, looking at all the pretty designer clothing stores. Browsing inside a fashionable cosmetic store, I could see a wide range of bodies covered in tattoos and funky apparel. It’s here that  it occurred to me that all this is to cover up the fact that we are slowly turning back into dust. All the entertainment, scenic places and exotic locations are all a distraction. Industries built to cover up and distract us from the slowly coming inevitable outcome that like a beautiful ice sculpture we are gradually melting back into the earth. Even the memory or us may fade. That’s why we will give those people special to us a @ddasuhan_, so that they remember us. Giving someone a @ddasuhan_ is leaving your beautiful mark on their lives. To tell them that they are special to you and not just one of many, like another product of the shelf of some store, whatever its brand or price point, but they are one of a kind, like they really are.

I also thought of drawing some more Jisu original artwork in the near future, to accompany the pop-art work that i enjoy making. Then I will find the deeper meanings underneath the pictures and add them to the gallery for you all to purchase, after they have been posted on the @ddasuhan_ instagram account.

A special thanks to my best friend in Brisbane - Sue (and my brilliant Guest House manager Brett for taking me out to Gold Coast and) for celebrating my birthday on the Gold Coast and to Bluey - who also lives in Brisbane! I drew Bluey to celebrate my time here in Brisbane so when this message popped up on my phone on my birthday I was so happy and it made my special day more special! Thank you Sue, Brett and Bluey of Brisbane!
